CLA is growing and seeking to hire an experienced Senior - Regulatory Research to join our Telecom team in Atlanta, GA. The position offers growth, flexibility and a collaborative work environment.

How you'll create opportunities in this Senior - Regulatory Research role:

  • Audit work of Associates for accuracy and ensure optimizing file returns for clients
  • Interpret complex jurisdiction laws and provide guidance to clients
  • Complete regulatory filings with state and federal authorities (e.g., annual reports, revenue reports, compliance filings, etc.)
  • Assist with filing of revisions to regulatory documents.
  • Prepare correspondence and responsive materials to third parties and regulatory authorities.
  • Track open issues and prepare regular status reports.
  • Identify and support process improvements to add increased efficiencies or conformance with tax rules.
  • Provide training to Associate team members.
  • Complete thorough reviews of filings/reports prepared by Associates.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

What you will need:

  • 2+ years' of relevant experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Telecommunications tax return preparation and reconciliation preferred. Sales tax return preparation broadly useful.
  • Familiarity with tax-related platforms and engines preferred (Avalara, Vertex, etc.)
  • Relevant experience interpreting tax billing information from various tax rating engines and platforms preferred.
  • Background in legal research and grant writing preferred
