$18.00 - $20.00

The Warehouseman position is part of the operations team and is responsible for the safe handling of equipment for all physical cargo handling operations, including but not limited to receipt in, handling, storage, securing and delivery out of customer cargo.

  • Coordinates outside trucking company drivers to ensure accuracy with loading/unloading and placement/direction of truck parking.
  • Loads and unloads delivery trucks receiving stock and/or filling orders for transport.
  • Assists operations with a variety of tasks including banding, bagging, barge work, receiving stock and placing in the proper locations, and verifying that the quantity and quality of orders are correct.
  • Cleans warehouse for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary work area.
  • Participates in physical inventories to verifying stock and ordering needs.
  • Works closely with operations and office staff to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of work plans.
  • Supports, monitors, and troubleshoots, when necessary, ensuring data is accurate and informs terminal staff of any discrepancies.
  • Inspects and maintains assigned equipment ensuring serviceability and safety.
  • Reports problems and issues to appropriate manager.
  • Adheres to all company safety regulations including PPE requirements, maintains a safe and efficient work environment, and obeys and traffic laws.
  • Assists Superintendent to assure proper communication between all parties, vessels, customers, agents and labor, as directed.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required.

  • High school diploma required, and college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years waterfront experience, stevedoring knowledge/experience is preferable.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to/from work location.
  • Must be proficient in the safe and efficient operation of a forklift.
  • Possess the ability to organize and plan with forward thinking.
  • Have a desire to work independently to accomplish priority tasks and to plan ahead independently.
  • Ability to have a 'flexible' schedule-possibly will be required to work 'extended hours' and 'weekend' shifts.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Work Environment:

  • Required job duties are performed in both an inside and outside environment.
  • Exposure to computer screens is minimal.
  • The noise level in the work environment is at times elevated.
