Environmental Scientist/Staff Geologist - Oklahoma City, OK
Halff is seeking a highly motivated environmental professional with a minimum of five years of experience that possesses a Bachelor of Science in geology, environmental science/engineering, or related degree in our Oklahoma City office. The ideal candidate should have experience successfully completing projects under regulatory programs administered by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) and/or Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC). This position would be part of a very skilled team and involves working closely with clients, other Project Managers and Team Leaders, and technical staff performing due diligence, remediation, compliance, and other environmental sampling and analysis activities. This position will be responsible for conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Site Investigations, performing compliance inspections/sampling, and preparing reports. This position will include opportunities for both field and office work. Environmental Scientist/Staff Geologist Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Provide technical support on environmental projects.
  • Prepare environmental reports and studies (e.g., Phase I ESAs and Phase II reports). Ability to write technical reports is required.
  • Conduct field investigations and assessments and collect project related data for analysis.
  • Perform environmental site investigations. This includes, but is not limited to, collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and/or soil gas samples and supervising environmental drilling while logging soil cores and developing monitor wells. ***EXPERIENCE REQUIRED***
  • Provide support for regulatory submissions including data collection for permitting.
  • Responsible for both field and office execution of environmental projects.
  • Some travel (e.g., throughout Oklahoma and surrounding States) will be necessary.
  • Direct client communication on project deliverables.
  • Ability to manage budget and schedule.
Environmental Scientist/Staff Geologist Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in environmental consulting industry.
  • Undergraduate degree specializing in Geology, Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Geological Sciences, or similar discipline.
  • Field experience (e.g., soil, groundwater sampling) and regulatory knowledge.
  • Previous experience with ODEQ, OCC, EPA and/or USACE projects.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
  • Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Candidate will be required to pass a background check in order to enter Federal Facilities.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered the position mush pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and a company physical exam (indicating that there will be no restrictions for field activities).
  • Willingness to obtain certifications and participate in training activities as needed to support the team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and to manage projects independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and ArcGIS required.
