Dermatology is seeking to hire an enthusiastic individual to join our team to support our IT needs.

We are a diverse department within the School of Medicine. We provide excellent education and support to our residents, faculty, medical students and our community.

The IT Support Tech plays a crucial role in providing technical assistance and support to various members of the department including faculty, staff, community providers and students. The primary responsibilities revolve around offering customer service and support through phone, email and in-person requests. This includes addressing inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and guiding users through many hardware and software channels used at UNM.

Key duties for this role may include:

  • Answering incoming calls and responding to email and in-person inquiries promptly.
  • Providing timely and accurate technical support to users experiencing IT-related problems.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems to higher-level support personnel when necessary.
  • Documenting and tracking support requests and resolutions
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on UNM IT services and technologies.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by the department.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing excellent customer service and support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze complex computer problems from a centralized and user perspective and provide documented solutions.
  • Experience operating and maintaining audio visual equipment in a classroom environment.
  • Experience communicating technical solutions to non-technical people both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience using centralized service management/support systems.
  • Aptitude for configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing UNM owned computer hardware
