The Examination Design Projects subdivision is seeking a highly motivated mechanical design engineer to join a world-class team developing precision motion and data acquisition systems for examining spent nuclear fuel. As a Mechanical Engineer in the Examination Design Projects subdivision, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of fully engineered equipment and systems, from requirements development and concept design through hardware delivery. Your specific tasks will include research and development of novel technologies, proof of principle testing, mechanical design and analysis, integration with motion control system elements, and testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, test sponsors, and operations personnel at NRF to deliver cutting-edge solutions to the challenges associated with examining spent nuclear fuel and performing irradiations testing.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
