DIVISION - OFFICE OF POLICY AND DOCKET MANAGEMENT/DOCKET MANAGEMENT

The Office of Policy and Docket Management is split into two separate sections, Policy Development and Docket Management.
The Policy Development section prepares paper for the Commissioner's review before an open meeting. The Docket Management section processes all new incoming cases that are filed at the Commission.
OPDM also processes orders that are generated out of the open meetings and sends dockets to the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) where they conduct hearings.
Docket Management is seeking an Administrative Law Judge who has a desire to work in the utility regulatory industry, with a strong initiative, who would like to put their expertise and interest to work performing highly complex to highly advanced administrative hearing work in the Office of Policy & Docket Management. Work includes presiding over uncontested cases and contested case hearings on electric, telecommunications, water, and sewer utility applications.
The ideal candidate will have the following required minimum qualifications:
Administrative Law Judge I
Graduation from an accredited law school with an LLB or JD degree; licensed with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas; and a minimum of three (3) years' general legal experience as a licensed attorney.
Administrative Law Judge II
Graduation from an accredited law school with an LLB or JD degree; licensed with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas; and a minimum of three (3) years' experience as an administrative law judge or three (3) years' experience litigating contested case hearings.
Administrative Law Judge III
Graduation from an accredited law school with an LLB or JD degree; licensed with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas; and a minimum of six (6) years' experience as an administrative law judge or six (6) years' experience litigating contested case hearings.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE
Veterans, Reservists, or Guardsmen with a Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) or additional duties that fall in the fields listed in the below link who meet the minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply.
