Overview

SMS is looking for a Secure Communication Engineer on the Kirtland AFB C4 Contract in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Secure Communications Engineer installs and maintains secure voice and data networks through programming, installation, testing, and maintenance of secure communication equipment. Orders, pickup, loading, storage, and destruction of COMSEC materials, completes daily inventories of all COMSEC material. Work from customer submitted work orders. Coordinate with the customer to ensure the required services are installed and operational. Maintain accurate records of all managed devices and COMSEC materials, and manage scheduling of installs, re-keys, and upgrades. Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.

Responsibilities
    Ordering, pickup, loading, storage, and destruction of COMSEC materials,
  • Completing daily inventories of all COMSEC material.
  • Work is driven by customer submitted work orders.
  • Coordinates with customers to ensure the required services are installed and operational.
  • Maintains accurate records of all managed devices and COMSEC materials, and manages scheduling of re-keys, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Supports specialized utility programs to collect systems and network data.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and deploy ground level and orbital networks and devices in support of the Command Post
  • Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
  • Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following industry and DoD codes, standards, and legal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) and/or Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO).
  • Knowledge in telecommunications systems and practices.
  • Knowledge in networking fundamentals.
  • Must have solid Customer Service experience.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions such as climbing ladders, standing, bending, and lifting for duration of the duty day.
  • Coordinates with the customer on specific requirements, and where necessary and appropriate coordinates with other contractors.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers.
  • Understanding of proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work being performed in a telephone switch environment.
  • Experience with the tools and test equipment required for the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network services.
  • Experience with SKLs, TACLANE Network Encryptors, Sectera vIPer phones, STEs, OMNIs, Iridium Satellite Phones, KIV7M encryptors, KOV-81 encryptors, and KY-100 encryptors.
  • Applicant must be detail-oriented, with good record management skills, capable of maintaining documentation, forms, and inventories.
  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, and possess the ability to direct the activities of other team members.
  • Applicant must be diplomatic, multi-task capable, detail oriented, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable.
  • Requires a valid New Mexico Driver's License
  • Requires a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance or ability to upgrade
  • Requires CompTIA Security+CE
