THE ROLE:

The Operations Manager is a critical position within the AMD Server Business Unit's Strategic Market Development (SMD) team whose mandate is to enable global business growth for AMD EPYC processors. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this solution-oriented role will support the scalability and success of the SMD team by helping to establish and roll out best practices to drive operational excellence, and by supporting team leaders in efficient project execution. This role requires outstanding problem-solving skills, confident communication, and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external partners. Responsibilities will include implementing and managing team budget; overseeing the resources, templates and tools needed to support business processes; facilitating SFDC pipeline reporting; and interacting directly with internal partners such as finance, legal and marketing operations.

THE PERSON:

The SMD Operations Manager will be highly a self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple projects with changing requirements in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen with an emphasis on strategic communication and relationship-building to enable desired results. They will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying and analyzing recurring operational and strategic challenges. This individual will be comfortable communicating with stakeholders across the globe in implementing change and reporting on progress and outcomes. They should enjoy learning new skills in new areas, working in a team that is evolving and growing. Their approach to process implementation, as well as issue identification and resolution, will bolster continuous improvement efforts and contribute significantly to the team's strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Establish and oversee efficient operational processes including budget management in collaboration with finance and marketing ops. Train team members to internalize and follow key processes successfully. Analyze performance, identify process improvement opportunities and barriers, define required actions, work with global teams to gain buy-in, and implement positive change.
  • Manage the team's budget allocations quarterly, working with segment leads and other teams in Marketing Ops, Finance, Accounting and Procurement; as well as 3rd party vendors, ISVs and other partners. Includes overseeing budget request and payment process, maintaining accurate status, troubleshooting issues, and performing quarterly audits to ensure accurate reconciliation. Requires proactive coordination with business segment leaders to ensure budget aligns with quarterly goals, organizing meetings as needed to keep leaders informed and on track.
  • Establish SFDC pipeline reporting process and templates to help automate key info generation and support prep for executive report-out. Includes using tools such as SFDC and PowerBI, as well as interacting with SMD team analyst and Sales Ops team.
  • Establish and curate the resources and templates needed to support business processes, including evaluation, development and maintenance of digital tools and platforms to streamline operations as a whole
  • Prepare templates for internal team meetings, monthly executive meetings, and quarterly all-hands gatherings. Ensure consistency both within our team and in light of other team formats.
  • Organize and manage our team intranet structure and content including core business decks, meeting presentations, functional org charts, list of approved vendors and agencies, best practices tips and FAQs.
  • Facilitate hardware shipping requests for partners and track/verify fulfillment

  • Self-starter with outstanding work ethic and excellent interpersonal and teaming skills
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, coordinating with virtual teams across different time zones.
  • Effective in working with both technical and business staff to plan and implement projects, including customer-facing activities.
  • Proven ability to support business leaders in a high-growth environment
  • Finance and/or legal process experience a plus
  • Marcom and/or content development skills a plus

ACADEMIC CREDITIALS:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline preferred
