The position is responsible for providing financial support for regulated jurisdictional forecasting . The position will have specific job responsibilities assigned and will receive direction from the Director/Manager of Forecasting. Key areas of focus will be forecasting capital, wholesale and net income along with insightful analytics. Key interface groups will be Rates & Regulatory Planning, Wholesale Power Sales, Accounting, FP&A, Resource Planning.
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in compiling a 5-year financial forecast. This includes required analytics, material for Senior Management and Board presentations, ad hoc reporting manage capital inputs including AFUDC, depreciation expense, recoverability and cash flow impacts.
Provide updates monthly on current year projected earnings.
Communicate analysis of key business drivers on financial statements and impacts on return on equity, capitalization structure, credit metrics, etc.
Partner with Rates & Regulatory Strategy department to model strategic regulatory assumptions.
Support accounting department on their analysis during the year comparing to budget.
Understand the basis for the retail load forecast and the economic drivers behind the numbers. Then convert the load quantities into revenue.
Understand how the load forecast impacts the system generation needs and fuel/purchased power costs.
Lead/model strategic planning scenarios to understand the earnings per share and cash flow impacts.
Work collaboratively with business partners; coordinate with numerous groups across finance and the business to build assumptions in creating the jurisdiction operational plan.
Work with Corporate Forecasting and Treasury on a financing plan that achieves targeted capitalization structure.
Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
Five (5) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
CPA or working toward CPA
Advanced degree, preferably in Accounting
Eight (8) years or more of professional work related experience
Knowledge of GAAP
Financial modeling experience
Strong understanding of Duke Energy's regulated business
Advanced PowerPoint Skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Well organized and flexible to shifting priorities

Working ConditionsHybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable dailycommute to a Duke Energy facility.
