Where you will work:
Clearwater Paper's Las Vegas facility produces through-air-dried (TAD) ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Boasting over 200 talented employees, the Las Vegas location sits on 23 acres and uses state-of-the-art technology, automation, and a variety of equipment such as laser-guided vehicles. Clearwater Paper employees are proud to manufacture a high-quality product for an essential industry.

Located within the Mojave Desert, North Las Vegas sits just northeast of Las Vegas as the 4th largest city in the state of Nevada. The city offers an extensive park and recreation program including 34 parks that cover more than 475 acres of developed parkland. Recently completed Southern Nevada's Neon to Nature regional trail system includes 10 miles used for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. North Las Vegas offers several opportunities for social and civic involvement including Three Square Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, and Clark County 4H. North Las Vegas offers a strong K-12 school district (Clark County School District) including 5 high schools and several elementary and middle schools. What you will do:

Environmental, Health, and Safety Leadership

  • Provide EHS leadership, guidance, and technical support to site Leadership Team on EHS performance, priorities, risks, costs, major issues or concerns, and regulatory interpretations.
  • Leads execution of an annual EHS plan, including development of expense and capital budgets (as needed) to support these efforts.
  • Define and implement strategies to engage site employees in the EHS process.
  • Oversee the site-wide system to identify and evaluate hazards and implement effective controls consistent with Clearwater's EHS process.
  • Develops and maintains EHS systems, processes, and records
  • Acts as the point person to identify, correct, and communicate EHS issues in a professional manner
  • Conducts audits, risk assessments, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local regulators) on EHS matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish relationships and influence all levels across all functions including management, line workers, government officials, customers, visitors, and other stakeholders or internal company organizations/partners.
  • Developing the skills of site leaders and colleagues, including but not limited to hazard recognition; the human elements of safety including coaching and accountability; implementation of corrective actions; and the overall safety management system and technical OSHA safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, etc.
  • Manage EHS records consistent with internal records retention requirements.

Lead Environmental Compliance Process

  • Manage overall environmental compliance with the site wastewater, air, and other compliance permits.
  • Complete and submit environmental compliance documentation (e.g, DMRs, Tier II, etc..)
  • Ensures that required regulatory permits are acquired, that reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g., sampling, recordkeeping) are met.
  • Work with paper machine and other site operational personnel to collect and track data to ensure environmental compliance.

Incident Management, Worker's Compensation and Return-To Work

  • Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
  • Provides guidance to operations on employees returning to work within their restrictions to encourage return to work at full capacity.

Proactive Safety Leadership

  • Develop and deliver safety training to assure OSHA compliance and conformance with internal safety standards.
  • Develop, update and review site written programs for compliance with OSHA requirements and internal safety standards.
  • Conduct pro-active safety assessments to identify, evaluate and control hazards and prevent employe incidents.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety/Health related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years' experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Operating knowledge of industrial hygiene equipment
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitive information
  • High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces
  • Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment.
  • Dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.

Total Reward Details:
We're committed to providing an exceptional workplace experience, including a comprehensive total reward package. This position is eligible for our Incentive Plan. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors. Benefits are generally available after 30 days and include medical, dental, vision, life, disability coverage, employee assistance program, and a 401k plan. Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
