Functions as a member of the Pulmonary Function and Exercise Lab team. Maintains a safe environment for patients undergoing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic pulmonary function and cardiopulmonary testing. Operates and trouble shoots state-of-the -art diagnostic and PC based pulmonary functions and exercise equipment. Able to perform basic pulmonary function testing including Spirometry, 6 minute walks, Pulse oximetry and radial ABG draws. In addition, Technologist will be able to perform advanced Pulmonary Function testing to include: Plethysmography, Diffusing capacity test, maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressures, maximal voluntary ventilation, Helium FRC determination, shunt quantification studies, bronchodilator studies and sputum inductions. Technologist will be able to provide cylinder gas and PFT lab inventory management. Ability to Calibrate PFT equipment to acceptable standards. Provide patients with both written and verbal education, on smoking cessation. Able to float shifts between PFT facilities when needed. Works cooperatively with other team members and other cross-functional department to ensure tests are performed in a timely manner and within lab quality standards.
