We are seeking talented and self-motivated individuals with proven technical track records to join our VMware vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) team. Role Overview:

You will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing and maintaining infrastructure software. You will focus on adding new capabilities to DRS to optimize resource management of workloads that leverage new accelerators (e.g. GPUs).

This role involves building solutions where you will work collaboratively with peer teams such as vSphere high availability, and vMotion. You will also need to understand compute, memory, storage, networking, and have an understanding of how workloads consume resources within the system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for product enhancements, which will involve solution proposals, getting them reviewed by peers, incorporating feedback towards a well architected, designed, scalable and highly performant software solution.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical architecture and design specifications.

  • Design and develop innovative software solutions in the DRS area of the product.

  • Implement robust and scalable software solutions using C++ programming languages.

  • Stay up to date with the industry trends in relevant technologies and be part of innovative solutions.

  • Provide engineering support for customer escalations.

  • Debug and troubleshoot software problems in the product.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with 12+ years of related experience, or Masters degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 7+ years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience and demonstrated technical leadership in Software development with strong proficiency in C++ programming languages, and some proficiency in Java language and scripting languages.

  • Well versed with virtualization technologies, and infrastructure management software concepts.

  • Experienced with back-end software.

  • Experienced with software development best practices, including design patterns, code optimization, and debugging techniques.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and pays attention to details.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • A strong team player with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Additional Job Description:

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $111,000 - $210,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
