Job Summary/General Purpose of Job

  • Conducts CILA social work program activities including training, resource development, technical assistance support, and collaboration.

Principal Duties/Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessment interviews with legal service providers to determine their needs and ways that ABA CILA can support them.
  • Responds to technical assistance requests from staff attorneys, legal staff, social services staff, and pro bono volunteers related to the social service needs of unaccompanied minors.
  • Assists in creating and executing all aspects of live and virtual trainings for advocates working to meet the needs of unaccompanied youth as they relate to their immigration proceedings.
  • Maintains all records of outreach technical assistance and ensures the confidentiality of the data.
  • Individually and in collaboration with others, creates written resources helpful to advocates serving unaccompanied minors, as well as youth themselves.
  • Provides support to legal staff members on matters related to social work.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Possession of a licensed master's in social work (LMSW). Two years of work experience as a social worker. Fluency in English and Spanish in both oral and written formats. Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products. Ability to multi-task and problem solve issues during stressful situations. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Reliable transportation to travel between office and off-site locations.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Previous experience providing social work support and services to unaccompanied minors or adults.

Physical Requirements (if applicable}

  • Typically an office setting (whether in CILA office space or from home office if working remotely), but this role may require visits to the offices of legal service providers or other stakeholders and/or travel for professional trainings/conferences. Ability to carry up to 15 pounds.

Extent of Travel Required in the Job

  • As a normal course of business, this job may require some travel less than 15% of the time.
