THIS POSITION IS FOR A WEEKEND 1ST SHIFT PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR. PRODUCTION HOURS ARE:

FRIDAY: 1:00 AM - 1:30 PM

SATURDAY: 2:00 AM - 2:30 PM

SUNDAY: 3:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Basic Function

The Production Supervisor is responsible for successfully developing and managing the production team to maintain productive application of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities to achieve safety and production goals as well as quality and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee production lines, review downtime causes and be actively involved in issues on the floor by assisting in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Prepare work schedules, assign work and oversee the work product.
  • Mentor, coach and counsel production personnel.
  • Promote a safety focused culture and enforce all safety and GMP policies.
  • Conduct and facilitate efficient sanitation strategies by leading the team and being actively involved on sanitation days.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications or products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
  • Plan production operations by establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Oversee the performance of daily inventory functions, including but not limited to cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operation performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices.
  • Compile, store and retrieve production data.
  • Review and approve employees' time records.
  • Review and approve requests for time off.
  • Attend and participate in all weekly production meetings.
  • Continuously improve professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
  • Cultivate a strong working knowledge of Algood's internal policies and procedures.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Travel

This position requires less than 25% travel on an as needed basis.

  • Ability to maintain considerable concentration with frequent time pressures and interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain visual attention for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to prepare and review reports.
  • Ability to read and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry minimal weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, squat, kneel, climb, push or pull.
  • Ability to manipulate necessary office equipment, computer software, hardware and equipment.

Working Environment and Conditions

This position requires working in both internal and external environments. Exposure to moderate to high noise and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, this position is exposed to high, precarious locations.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training

Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
3+ years of leadership or management experience in a manufacturing environment
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completed Supervisor Trainee Program (Internal Candidate Only)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and an understanding of other software, web-based applications, ERP Systems, RF Scanners, Inventory Control Systems and Internet search functions preferred.
