SummaryResponsible for teaching all aspects of the Garland Swim Program.
Target Hiring Range: Starts at $15.00 per hour
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform daily teaching of classes.
Correctly store and maintain all program supplies.
Respond to participant questions.
Keep accurate progress records of each assigned student.
Effectively communicate with other staff, patrons and supervisor.
Wear sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher.
Assist with special events and various administrative duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Enrolled in or graduated High School
Must be at least 16 years of age
Or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
Preferred QualificationsEducation/ Experience:
In high school or graduated high school
Experience in working with children and/ or experience in aquatics
First Aid and CPR certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of general water safety
Skill in swimming
Ability to teach
Ability to carry out departmental emergency procedures
Ability to provide exemplary customer service to participants
Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents and staff
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to perform physical activity as required, lifting a minimum of forty pounds
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Completion of training for the Garland Swim Program
First Aid and CPR certification preferred
Valid Class C Texas driver's license preferred
The incumbent typically works in an outdoor environment with exposure to all weather conditions under direct sunlight six to eight hours per day, four or five days a week. May be required to walk, bend, stoop and lift a minimum of forty pounds.
