Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager/Site Safety & Health Officer to work out of our Fairfax, VA office, with job sites around Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. You will work on projects within the active and occupied government facilities to install, repair, and/or upgrade Building Automation Systems, and supporting communications wiring and electrical systems. Our primary focus is on HVAC systems, but we also provide electrical metering, lighting controls, audiovisual, and other low voltage systems for buildings.

This is a dual-hat position for both the Construction Quality Control Manager and the Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO).

In the QC Manager role your responsibilities include overall management of the Contractor's Quality Control (CQC) with the authority to act in all CQC matters. Your duties include developing plans and maintaining current records of quality control operations, activities, and tests performed, including the work of subcontractors and suppliers. The referenced records shall be on an acceptable form and shall include factual evidence that required quality control activities and/or tests have been performed.

In the Safety Officer (SSHO) role you are responsible for the overall management of the Contractor's Safety Program. You have the authority to act in all safety matters. Your duties include developing the safety plans for project sites (in coordination with corporate safety) and maintaining current records of safety operations, activities, training, monitoring, and inspections performed, including the work of subcontractors and suppliers. The referenced records shall be on an acceptable form and shall include factual evidence that required safety training, monitoring and inspections of the work site have been performed.

Responsibilities
    Develop Quality Control Plans and provide feedback to the entire team.
  • Dewberry is a Design-Build firm, and you will need to be able to review plans and specs, reports, and other project documentation to provide feedback, as well as review construction activities to provide feedback on quality of both final products, the Design and the Build. Emphasis of this role is on the Build.
  • Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes, installation techniques, and client requirements.
  • We are looking for a coach, but still have to be able to cut or bench a player when they are not performing.
  • Helps manage subcontractors on work that has effect on electrical and/or controls work as it relates to safety and/or quality. Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project.
  • Develop Safety Plans, such as Activity Hazard Analysis, Mishap Reports, etc
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • A degree in a related construction area and/or holding a Master Electrical License is preferred.
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years of direct experience in Electrical and/or HVAC controls construction and the related low voltage trades, would also consider Mechanical construction experience.
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform a project drawing page turn to find and identify potential quality or safety issues.
  • Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project), Bluebeam Visio and basic Windows environment.
  • Travel will vary on project assignment. Projects may exist outside of the assigned geography or region.
  • Must be a US Citizen (not a dual citizen) and able to obtain a federal security clearance. Preference given to anyone currently holding a clearance.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for 4 hours, and able to walk 2 miles.
  • USACE CQM Certification
  • OSHA 30 or EM385-40
  • 1st Aid/AED/CPR
  • Valid Driver License with a clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for 4 hours, and able to walk 2 miles.

Work location: Based out of Fairfax, VA with 30% travel or more.

Required: Background Check, Drug Screen, Ability to Acquire Security Clerance
