Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Performs any combination of following duties to facilitate cutting, finishing, storing, cleaning, and shipping wood products, and inspects products prior to shipment: Stacks lumber or wood products on floor or in bins to supply machine operators or assemblers,
  2. Workers may use automated machinery, such as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines, to do much of the work
  3. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  4. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions (not required by all operators).
  5. Sets-up, operate and tend, mills, lathes, drill presses, shapers, routers, sanders and wood nailing machines by using proper instructions & procedures.
  6. Perform work in high production environment
  7. The ability to add fasteners, adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
  8. Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  9. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
  10. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  11. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  12. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  13. Applies filler, putty, or other material, using brush, putty knife, and fingers to fill wood pores, holes, cracks, or other indentations.
  14. Traces patterns on lumber stock as guide for machine operator.
  15. Brushes surfaces with glue preparatory to covering surfaces with leather, paper, or other materials.
  16. Examines materials and products for defects, finish, and grade, and accuracy of dimension and matching panels, using measuring instruments.
  17. Maintains workstation in a neat, clean and orderly fashion, and performs job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  18. Ensure wood isn't warped cracked, or swollen; completing all stages of the woodworking process.

Competencies

  1. Should be able to work on CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  2. Should have good organizational skills for running multiple operations
  3. Should have high hand dexterity to operate machines and a multitude of hand tools
  4. Should have some interpersonal skills
  5. Should have initiative in getting the job done

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The work element is in a temperature controlled environment and may encounter machinery noise and wood dust.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to manually lift and stack products that ranges from 5 pounds to 75 pounds. Must be capable of sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, or walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to work additional hours and up to seven days a week, as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work are dependent on which shift you work.

Travel

No Travel is required for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. A high school diploma is sufficient for this position and, past experience in a manufacturing mattress operations is beneficial.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
