Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to join their basic and translational science laboratory for cell therapy within the lab is Dr. Samuel John (Department of Pediatrics) and collaborating closely with Dr. Alec Zhang (Department of Physiology). The Research Technician will work directly with and report to Dr. Samuel John. The John Lab's primary focus is the study of cancer immunology and the development of novel immunotherapies including CAR-T cells for acute leukemia. The lab aim is to translate their research to clinical use, having successfully done so previously with therapeutic antibodies our lab has developed.

Experience and Education

* Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or

* Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. or

* High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.

Laboratory Duties

* Conduct laboratory experiments designed to develop and test novel immunotherapies/cell therapies for the treatment of cancer.

* Conduct functional assays and animal (mouse) handing.

* General laboratory duties, including ordering, reagent preparation, and equipment management.

Job Duties

* Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.

* Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.

* Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.

* Assists in collection of data for project reports.

* Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.

* May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
