The Office of the University Secretary (OUS) is seeking an Office Assistant. OUS is headed by the Secretary of the University and reports to the Provost. OUS is a main source of continuity in faculty government. The leadership of the faculty, the Faculty Senate, the Senate Operations Committee, the Committee on Governance, and the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee rely on the information and advice from the University Secretary. The office also provides administrative support to approximately 26 faculty standing committees and various ad hoc committees. OUS is also responsible for ceremonial events, including Commencement, the campus-wide graduation ceremony for all students held in the Spring and Fall of each year, and First Year Convocation in August.
OUS is seeking a self-motivated candidate to assist with the day-to-day administrative activities of the office. The student selected must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional environment, with a high ability to multitask and prioritize. Must have good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with the office staff and the University Secretary.
Under general supervision, the successful candidate will provide administrative support and customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members; answer phones and provide general information regarding routine inquiries; greet guests and
provide general information as requested; perform routine clerical work, data entry, and/or word processing and routine filing duties. Will assist with university ceremonial events . Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
