Job Description:

The Role:

Entegris is looking for a dynamic individual to support the Advanced Deposition Materials research and development group in Danbury, CT. In this role the successful candidate will support laboratory operations with an emphasis on strategic chemistry method development and synthesis of air sensitive compounds. The position involves working in a chemistry research lab environment with direction provided from veteran synthesis chemists.

In this role you will:

  • Refine, develop, and or execute synthetic methods to support 100g-1kg sample quantities of air-sensitive organometallic and inorganic chemicals.
  • Purify materials as needed using common techniques such as sublimation, distillation, crystallization, etc.
  • Collect routine sample/reaction characterization data using various spectroscopies, including NMR spectroscopy.
  • Maintain and use equipment in the synthetic chemistry labs, including inert atmosphere gloveboxes, vacuum pumps, and other air-free R&D equipment.
  • Contribute to and maintain safety documentation in the appropriate systems and promote safe work practices at all times.

Requirements:

  • MSc degree with five to six years of demonstrated experience in small molecule synthesis is required. A synthetic background with experience handling and synthesizing air sensitive chemicals is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with characterization of small molecules by NMR spectroscopy and gas chromatography are required. Experience with other characterization techniques such as thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, etc., are strongly preferred.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks are critical for success.
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with group members is essential.
  • Ability to quickly learn new company specific systems for ordering, inventory, and safety documentation is required.
