The Opportunity:

As the Executive Director of Development for the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH), you will be instrumental in creating and executing fundraising plans to meet established goals aligned with the Dean's funding priorities. You will represent the diverse philanthropic needs of CAH, manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, and lead the development team for CAH. Collaboration with academic leadership and fellow fundraising colleagues will be essential to maximize giving opportunities and support strategic program priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts in support of strategic program priorities.

  • Seeks to maximize giving opportunities for the assignment through a consistent program of prospect outreach which includes prospects under management.

  • Identifies & maintains an active pool of prospects under management.

  • Meets performance objectives by maintaining a high level of development activity resulting in funding & identification of "new" prospects.

  • Ensures all contacts are entered in the database.

  • Updates biographic, demographic and preference data for donors and prospects in CRM donor database.

  • Enters strategies, contact reports, and other pertinent donor outreach information in a timely manner.

  • Trains and mentors junior development staff in the college, area, or department.

  • Establishes priorities for junior fundraising staff within the assigned college or area.

  • Develops and implements targeted strategies to maximize the involvement of university officials and key volunteers in the conduct of major gifts development effort.

  • Schedules joint prospect visits with members of the College's administration or faculty, when appropriate.

  • Works with dean(s), directors, chairs and faculty to develop donor-driven/funded programs to build college offerings.

  • Provides strategic consultation to the appropriate dean(s) or program director regarding fundraising initiatives (major, planned, and annual).

  • Provides support of volunteer-based development efforts and assists in the recruitment of targeted individuals for the boards.

  • Responsible for the successful outcomes of supervised college or area-based fundraising staff.

  • Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of the University, fundraising priorities across theinstitution, and Advancement development objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in academic fundraising or development within a higher education setting.

  • Knowledge of CRM donor database management systems.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.

  • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising.

  • Experience in event planning and coordination.

  • Knowledge of arts and humanities programs and priorities.

  • Collaborative mindset with a high level of initiative and creativity.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Classification Title: Development Director III

The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is $117,747 - $143,913.

The determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will vary based on several factors, including education and relevant experience. The anticipated pay scale indicated for this position generally applies to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and several of the preferred qualifications outlined above.
