This position is expected to attend a monthly in-person meeting in Chattanooga and may travel up to 20% to support projects across the Tennessee Valley.
Position Purpose
This position manages the environmental regulatory activities for assigned programs and projects. These activities include project permitting, NEPA coordination, regulatory guidance, governance and oversight, procedures, regulatory interface, regulatory relations, and quality improvement programs. The incumbent sponsors teams for environmental problem solving and develops reference indicators to avoid noncompliance through predictive assessment. The incumbent also develops recommendations for policy positions, strategic direction for long-term planning, and performance goals related to these programs.
Supervisory Responsibility
None. May direct work of up to 5+ different individuals/collaborators, including scientists, project engineers, and managers.
Budget Responsibility
May manage projects that reach up to $1M.
Principal Accountabilities
Serves as an environmental compliance program manager, providing regulatory interface to assigned client organizations.
Minimum Requirements:
Education - BS in Engineering or Environmental Science discipline or equivalent education and experience.
Experience - Five to seven years of professional experience in the field of environmental permitting and compliance and power systems operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must have knowledge of TVA operations, environmental laws and regulations affecting TVA operations for applicable media, TVA's environmental policies and objectives and scientific studies and research related to the environmental consequences of VA operations. Must possess effective communication skills (both orally and in writing), be capable of motivating personnel, and be capable of leading team efforts in problem solving and predictive assessment. Must demonstrate negotiation skills. Must be able to evaluate the cost effectiveness of compliance alternatives and take decisive action in the planning and implementation of pollution control activities. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
