About the role:

This role is accountable for providing technical assistance for the maintenance and operations of multiple high and low voltage areas and transmission systems. We're looking for someone who would be accountable for both new project development and existing technical operation of the high voltage areas and Power System equipment for the Massena Operations. The position will have lead responsibility for system testing, calibration, solving problems and providing technical, maintenance and operational direction to achieve initiatives, equipment modernization and department operational goals. Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance for the maintenance and operations of the NERC registered Bulk Electric System (BES), Rectifier Station, plant high voltage systems and Long Sault / Alcoa Utilities (Water Systems).
  • Play a key role in maintenance and training efforts to improve reliability of the operations of the Long Sault BES, potline power and location high voltage Power Systems equipment.
  • Give the department technical directions for high voltage equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure the JSA/ESA (safety procedure) system is in place for all Rectifier and Power System equipment.
  • Cross-train in outage coordination switching order creation and help serve as onsite backup to the Power System Controller and Power System Supervisor for vacations, etc.
  • Provide safety expertise and leadership to entire plant around high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Coordinate technical and special safety initiatives as the need arises for high voltage maintenance.

What you can bring to this role:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering
  • Preferred 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or utility environment.
  • Electrical and operational knowledge of a Rectifier Station and Power System.
  • Outstanding technical, communication and organization skills to assist department employees in the implementation of the area's directives.
  • Preferred experience with transformer oil testing and maintenance requirements, system protection and coordination, calibrations, testing and SCADA knowledge.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Base salary: $67,000 - $99,500 USD annually

Total rewards packages listed, including base salary and bonus eligibility, applies to US based applicants only. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package. Alcoa reserves the right to change plans at its discretion.
