Job Summary

The LBS1 provides specialized instruction in order to meet the unique educational needs of students in the HILIA Program. The LBS1 will work in partnership with HILIA Laboratory School faculty/staff and other Laboratory School faculty/staff. Position will support students in the HILIA Program in grades K-8 that have learning and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities also include but are not limited to, maintaining appropriate records, assessing student progress to evaluate academic and social emotional growth, developing and implementing IEPs, Collaborating with the educational team regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans, and other instructional interventions in order to meet the needs of students with disabilities, Modifying curriculum to meet individual student needs and ensure appropriate accommodations are provided.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Professional Educator License specific to position as required by the State of Illinois
3. Ability to collaborate with a variety of educational professionals inclusive of Laboratory school staff, local school districts, and ISU staff and students.
4. Good organization and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience as a Learning Behavioral Specialist 1
2. Experience and knowledge of specialized curriculum and assistive technology.

Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday school hours with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
