DESCRIPTION

Education and Experience:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

  • Six (6) months of experience in parks maintenance, landscape maintenance, grounds maintenance, or a related field.

Skills/Abilities


  • Edges, trims, operates leaf blower, sweeps, and rakes public parks and landscape areas; fertilizes, seeds, aerates, weeds, prunes, mulches, and cultivates landscape areas; plants small trees, ground cover, flowers, shrubs, and turf.
  • Cleans buildings and facilities, landscape areas, sports fields, dugouts, bleachers, playground equipment, picnic tables, and shade structures; performs graffiti cleanup and other forms of routine manual labor.
  • Inspects and performs minor repairs to playground equipment, parks, tot lots, parking lots, picnic shelters, tables, doors, bathroom stalls, and toilets.
  • Opens and closes park restrooms; picks up and empties trash and debris; replaces trash bags; cleans and stocks restroom products; plunges clogged toilets.
  • Inspects park grounds and facilities; corrects and/or reports hazardous conditions.
  • Operates pickup trucks, backhoes, loaders, tractors, and other motorized vehicles and equipment; cleans and maintains tools and equipment used on the job.
  • Reports any facility problems, vandalism, or illegal activities to immediate supervisor and/or the Corona Police Department.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.

The Organization

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
