Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Advisor, Income Tax, with experience in corporate and partnership taxation to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

The Advisor, Income Tax position's primary role is responsible for preparation and certain oversight responsibilities for the Income Tax function for tax compliance, tax planning, tax research, and special project work as needed. This includes federal, state, local and foreign returns, estimated payments, and quarterly accounting under ASC 740. This position will need to have an understanding of corporate and partnership taxation, in addition, to an understanding of federal, state, local, and international tax.
This position will also be involved in assisting with analyzing and modeling tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions in the oil and gas and renewable energy sector. This position will report to the Manager, Income Tax within the group.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

* Tax Compliance.

o Prepare federal, state, local and foreign income tax filings (corporate and partnership).

o Perform analysis of financial statements, while utilizing strong analytical, accounting and tax technical skills, to prepare and file federal, state and local income, franchise and gross receipts tax returns.

o Prepare and file estimated tax payments as needed for both Buckeye Partners, LP and parent company.

o Perform Accounting for Income Tax functions, including preparation of Quarterly Tax Provisions and working with accounting personnel and departmental administrative staff to ensure proper recording of the results in the ERP system.

o Prepare journal entries for accurate reporting of tax accruals, payments, refunds, RTP adjustments, etc.

o Maintain the tax calendar for required compliance and other filings for partnership and corporate entities; ensure all deadlines are met.

o Earning and Profits - Assist with the calculation of the accumulated earnings and profits of the company to assist in measuring the economic ability of a corporation to pay distributions.

* Tax Research and Planning/Laws and Regulations Knowledge. Keep current on new and proposed tax laws and regulations and communicate awareness to other members of the tax department; perform tax planning and research on various issues as needed.

* Tax Depreciation. Prepare fixed asset tax depreciation and gain/loss reconciliations. Prepare consolidated summary and tie outs in order to reconcile differences between financial fixed asset rollforwards and tax income rollforwards.

* Tax Authorities Liaison. Coordinate with tax authorities and prepare responses to tax notices from federal, state, and various taxing authorities.

* FERC Reporting. Support the FERC filing process for income tax matters, including responding to data requests for audits or rate cases.

* Tax Budget Support. Assist in the preparation of tax department budget for income tax compliance. Assist in the preparation of modeling forecasted cash taxes.

* Due Diligence. Participate in the due diligence process and modeling exercises for mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions along with or other special projects.

* Account Reconciliations. Prepare reconciliation of tax accounts and corresponding journal entries.

* Other duties as assigned including -

o Interfacing with internal cross-functional departments and outside tax and legal advisors on the company's behalf, as well as Federal and State taxing authorities, as required

o Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiencies and ensure best practices.

o Assisting with other tax department matters as determined by management

Position Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.

* CPA or advanced degree is preferred but not required.

* 1 - 3 years of related income tax experience is required, preferably in corporate and partnership tax filings.

Certificates & Licenses:

* CPA is preferred but not required.

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

* In order to succeed in this position, the incumbent must possess strong analytical and accounting skills as well as the ability to document the work product/files. The incumbent must be willing to perform or learn to perform tax research.

* Must have the ability to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros; import and export information).

* The incumbent must be able to work well on teams, network internally, and collaborate with others.

* Must exhibit excellent writing and oral communication skills.

* Strict deadlines and timelines must be adhered to with regards to reporting requirements.

* Incumbents must be able to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.

* This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

* This person must perform duties that require considerable use of arms and extended hours of sitting.

* Required use of all ergonomically safe equipment in performance of job.
