POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports VIS products and procedures by assisting, training, and educating internal Varian employees and external customers (physicians, nurses, other hospital staff, and technicians) on the safe and effective use of Company products.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions of the Position):

1. Coordinates case coverage

Transports all necessary VIS equipment to facility (when required) Completes and processes all procedure related paperwork to include hand carry tickets, encounter forms, expense reports. Tracks and reports all customer complaints. Ensures physicians and staff have the most current information available. Manages a disposable inventory sufficient to cover assigned case load.

2. Educates physicians and hospital staff on use of all VIS products

Provides on-site clinical support during procedures while maintaining a "hands off" posture in relation to direct patient contact. Interacts with customers and functional organizations to determine their training needs and uses engineering documentation such as Operators Manuals and DFUs to develop content of courses. Works with engineering, technical support and manufacturing to provide feedback on product development and customer needs.

3. Provides equipment first line product technical support.

Performs new installation product technical support to ensure product is working as specified, as requested. Provides first line technical service support via Engineering or Field Service Engineer oversight, when necessary.

4. Collaborates with VIS Medical Affairs Team

Assists Medical Education, Medical Information, and Medical Science Liaisons with projects and documents day to day interactions with physician customers.

5. Supports all relevant professional tradeshows/meetings, as required.

6. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Clinical Background - IR/CT Technician, Operating Room Nurse or Surgical Technician preferred.
  • Five or more years of work related medical industry (service or technology) or clinical experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • Must be able to provide physician verification that that he/she is able to complete his/her procedure room job responsibilities with respect to general health conditions, including but not limited to routine blood/urine analysis, age-specific screenings (as appropriate), Tuberculosis test, standard health history and screening and maintain Company standards regarding each of these requirements, as needed for hospital access.
  • Must be able to pass background and motor vehicle checks and maintain Company standards regarding each of these requirements.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience/Knowledge of IR/CT Suite, Operating Room Protocol and Sterile Technique.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS OF THE POSITION:

(Travel, Physical Demand, Mental Demand)

  • Travel: Position requires high amount of business travel (approximately 75%) and valid Driver's License.
  • Physical Demand: Significant physical effort. For example, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods, operating light office equipment, e.g., personal computer, copier, fax machine, etc., manually handling medium weight materials and/or equipment (0 to 10 pounds), and manually handling heavy weight materials and/or equipment (11 to 200 pounds).
  • Mental Demand: Moderate to high degree of concentration due to volume, complexity, and/or "pressure" of work.
