H.B. Fuller Construction Adhesives provides technologically advanced solutions to the commercial, industrial and residential construction industry. The Process Engineer will be responsible for driving site-wide improvements through project execution, process enhancements, new product scale-up, and waste elimination. Specifically, this role will participate heavily in the implementation of new processes including 60 new product SKU's, 5 new packaging lines, 4 new mixing operations, and 4 new bulk tank operations. Key processes in the original Houston facility include solids conveying, mixing, compounding, chemical reactions, and packaging. Additionally, this engineer will have the responsibility for process improvements for a sister site in Mexico.

The Process Engineer reports to the Plant Manager and will have lead responsibility on the plants Process Safety Management (PSM) program and support EHS.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive site safety culture by leading the safety committee and proactively implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety improvements.

  • Partner with shop floor personnel to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness

  • Drive project execution from start to finish including idea inception, process design, capital funding request, vendor identification, equipment procurement, construction, and start up.

  • Apply Six Sigma tools and techniques to achieve breakthroughs in capacity gains, productivity improvements, waste reduction, and yield improvements.

  • Improve process control via improved instrumentation and statistical tools.

  • Identify and implement automation, especially in packaging activities.

  • Utilize quality data to drive down product defects and Cost of Poor Quality

  • Develop standardized work procedures.

  • Participate in or Lead Process Safety Management activities such as Management of Change, Process Hazards Analysis, Contractor Safety

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 2+ years of experience in a chemical process improvement role

  • Demonstrated Lean Tool implementation and execution.

  • Practical background in statistical techniques

  • Ability to travel up to 20% to Mexico.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with mixing, compounding, chemical reactions, and packaging.

  • Six Sigma certification or experience

  • PSM experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $85,000 - $105,000.
