Duties: Under supervision of Production Manager, supervise 4,000+ head sow farm and related personnel, including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Create and manage employee work schedules. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. Submit daily and weekly reports to the Production Manager. Reports to Production Manager and supervises 11 farm hands.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science or Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering, or related field, and two years of related swine experience. Must have experience in processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing. Must also have experience training in needle vaccination and artificial insemination in swine. Experience in conducting safety training for employees. Experience must include at least one year of management duties in a swine farm of at least 2600 head, and experience following detailed standard operating procedures. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds. Must be proficient in English reading and writing.
