SummaryResponsible for interacting with tax customers or their agents, either by telephone or in person, to resolve a variety of questions and concerns regarding property tax billing, property records and assist in various office operations.
Salary: $16.50 - $20.50/hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResolve tax billing inquiries.
Explain the details of tax records, exemptions and payment options.
Open, sort and post large volumes of tax payments daily.
Manage and reconcile a daily cash drawer.
Perform various administrative functions which include but are not limited to: emails, fax, scanning, filing, mail sorting, database entry, etc.
Communicate with business partners in order to resolve account exceptions.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D)
2 year related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred QualificationsEducation/ Experience:
2-4 years experience with extensive public contact in customer service capacity
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Lotus)
Sufficient knowledge of filing methods and records management techniques Ability to be attentive to detail and accuracy
General knowledge of payment processing procedures
General knowledge of accurate posting of financial transactions
Sufficient knowledge of city geography and road network
Skill in de-escalating stressful situations involving irate customers
Skill in preparing clear and concise reports and correspondence
Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of customers
Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the general public
No Licenses/ Certifications required
The incumbent works in a call center or walk-up customer service environment; occasional noise and other environmental conditions or hazards.
