The OTC Product Manager is responsible for the development and execution of business plans for assigned dosage form(s) and market to achieve company revenue and profitability goals. The position is responsible for aligning resources and investments based on market insights and data to ensure the business plan optimizes company return on investment (ROI) by form. The OTC Product Manager works cross-functionally with Sales, Scheduling, Customer Service, Operations, Procurement, and Innovations to meet company objectives for short- and long-term business growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish a clear vision and strategy for the value stream of their dosage form and category.
  • Craft an annual and 5-year strategic plan that delivers on the company's growth and profitability goals through new products, pricing, product mix, and market penetration.
  • Complete annual competitive marketplace audit for assigned dosage form and category.
  • Conduct monthly consumption analysis and store walks to monitor changes in market conditions (pricing, promotions, shelf space, new products, etc.).
  • Develop a clear 5-year product roadmap that maximizes ROI for the dosage form though new product development, product mix, pricing, and new customer acquisition.
  • Manage strategic commercial relationships with key customers within the assigned category.
  • Assess new product opportunities and determine ROI for new projects to ensure long term value for the organization.
  • Develop project budgets and business case for new projects including preparing responses to customer requests for information (RFIs) and requests for quotes (RFQs).
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with departments to ensure alignment of demand and capacity to meet financial plans.
  • Collaborate with Innovations and Marketing on a product pipeline that meets short and long term strategic financial goals based on consumer research insights, category trends, and business diversification.
  • Interface with external customers and retail stakeholders to ensure product roadmaps meet changing customer and consumer needs.
  • Lead monthly value stream business KPIs and coordinate quarterly meetings to review performance versus plan.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field.
  • 5 years' experience in a dynamic product management or business development/sales role.
  • Experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Thorough knowledge of market dynamics including form penetration, size of market opportunity, pricing elasticity, competitors, consumer insights and trends.
  • Comfortable working in both a cross-functional team environment and independently.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, utilize time efficiently, and multi-task in an ever changing, fast-paced environment. Analytical, organized, and detail oriented.
  • Able to adapt to changing procedures and environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who creatively approaches challenges and opportunities with relentless determination.
  • Displays professionalism and sound judgement in all situations. Embodies a high level of honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business.
  • Combined experience in product management, account management, and/or business development.
  • Experience in Over the Counter (OTC) analgesics, allergy, and/or cough/cold/flu (CCF) categories.
  • Experience in product management with consumer-packaged goods, preferably with OTC consumer goods or supplements.
  • Experience operating within a matrixed organization (multiple decision makers).
