Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer at Sabre Systems, you will employ your talent towards improving the systems used on the United States Navy's most sophisticated Aircraft. The Maritime Surveillance domain requires Software Engineers to familiarize themselves with a wide variety of mission systems, software programming languages and environments. Sabre Systems is currently hiring for a Software Engineer to support one of our government customers at Patuxent River Naval Station located in Lexington Park, MD. The selected candidate will be supporting the various portfolio of software within NavMPS (JMPS, Next Gen Mission Planning, Standard Tester of Reprogrammable Munitions, Electronic Kneeboard). They will support PMA-281 Naval Mission Planning programs, and directly supporting Government IPT Leads and Lead Engineers. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing inputs to Government software specifications
  • Oversight of prime contractor software activities
  • Review of prime contractor software deliverables
  • Participation on technical working groups
  • Development of software system view
  • Broadly accomplish software subject matter expertise representing the Government

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or significantly equivalent field and a minimum of seven (7) years related experience
  • Experience in the development of modern software with emphasis applied to micro services & containerized software
  • Experience in Linux development (Ubuntu experience desired)
  • Experienced with utilizing modern software lifecycle and software development tools such as: Confluence, Jira, and DevSecOps pipeline tools
  • Experience with Agile development (Large scale Agile or SAFe desired)
  • Experience with documenting software either in written specs or in system models/views
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team, to include leading technical teams or working groups
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a background investigation

Highly Desired Skills:

  • Experience with server-based Enterprise applications
  • Experience with tablet-based (preferably Android) application development
  • Experience with browser-based UI development
  • Experience with internet protocol and network protocols
  • Experience with reviewing and addressing software cyber issues
  • Experience with application of MBSE or DODAF for software
  • Experience with MOSA
  • Experience with military data architectures and military data standards
  • Experience with software project planning and estimation
