Job Description
Responsibilities

Job title: HPC Data Storage Engineer

Duties: The HPC Data Storage Engineer will be responsible for all files, data, and storage systems at their location, and assist the remote location as needed. This includes managing where data is stored, capacity planning and management, performance management, metrics reporting, quotas, policy enforcement, and hardware management and tuning.

Location: The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Dallas, TX or Arlington, VA


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and administering the Lustre filesystem.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building, configuring, and administering production Linux computer/storage systems.
  • Practical experience scripting in Bash, Perl, Python, or similar languages.
  • Broad knowledge of data storage administration.
  • Knowledge of storage system hardware.
  • Experience deploying and managing SAN infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of or experience with hardware and software security practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of building, configuring, and administering Lustre in a production Linux HPC environment.
  • Knowledge of file systems such as ZFS, EXT, XFS.
  • Experience with relational database systems.
  • Experience working in a production computing environment, preferably with HPC data storage systems or at large scale.
  • Working knowledge of file system structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Object storage and RESTful storage interfaces.
  • Experience with distributed file systems and advanced file system concepts such as metadata organization, data protection strategies, and input/output semantics.
  • Experience with relevant storage system protocols and hardware including NVMe-based storage devices and computational storage devices.
  • Familiarity with Ansible.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience diagnosing system software problems.
  • Experience supporting a scientific user base.
  • Experience with multiple network technologies (e.g., Ethernet, IB, OPA).
  • Experience with low-level system administration tools such as perf, strace, tcpdump, and vmstat.
  • Experience managing computers in a DOD classified environment.

Clearance Requirements:

  • This position requires an active Top Secret DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
