Position SummarySummary
Responsible for technician training, completing construction and modifying substations. Also, responsible for participating in the installation, testing, maintenance, operation and modification of the electric transmission and distribution substation including protective relays, communication processors and equipment, battery systems, fiber optic multiplexers, substation equipment, metering system.

Salary: Depending on qualification and experience.
Test, repair and calibrate devices and equipment to complete new substations construction and modifications to existing substations.
Perform substation wiring on Relay Panels, Communication Equipment, Fiber Optic, Fault recorders, etc.
Install substation cabling routes and fiber optic point and connection maps.
Develop and implement mapping points for Substation SCADA system.
Perform field assessment of new projects and determining technical solutions.
Analyze historical trends data to investigate and correct anomalies in the power system.
Ensure proper storage of hard and soft copy test reports for Audit purposes.
Supervise and participate in troubleshooting system equipment and devices.
Recommend modifications, revisions and improvements in facility procedures and methods.
Develop and perform test procedures for new and existing equipment.
Document software protection relay tests modules and maintain relay testing and setting database.
Troubleshoot system faults.
Standby Duty and callout assistance after regular working hours.
Continuation occupational training.
Six months to one year of advanced study or training past the high school level
3 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Education/ Experience:
1 year of advanced study or training in electronics, safety and maintenance of electric utility equipment
3-5 years experience in maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic equipment related to electric utility
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of electric utility equipment
Considerable knowledge of maintenance processes and procedures
Considerable knowledge of safety precautions and safe work practices under normal and emergency situations
Extensive knowledge in SELlogic setting language, WIN ECP, Doble/Pro Test and Bestlogic
Extensive knowledge in relay networking and Communication Software
Skill in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel
Skill in performing substation switching in normal or emergency situations
Skill in operating various electric utility software including Relay Testing, primary equipment testing (transformers, breakers, instrument transformers, etc) and SCADA Communication Testing
Protective Relays and Maintenance
Valid Class C Texas driver's license
The incumbent works in a substation/electrical enclosed environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards; some work performed outside, exposing to inherited risks of electrocution. Occasional travel to remote system facilities.
