Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing leadership and support on assigned programs and projects ensuring the Company's products are manufactured in accordance with specifications. Serve as a liaison between customer, vendor (s), and company on quality-related concerns. This position will report to the quality manager (mounted products).

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Develop and maintain supplier audit systems.
  • Create and maintain Process Flow, Process Control Plans, and FMEA.
  • Ensure adherence to the highest standards in castings, (gray / ductile iron, steel and aluminum), machining, paint, and assembly.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve their quality processes and procedures.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Review and analyze supplier performance metrics.
  • Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively to address issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality assurance processes for incoming materials.
  • Utilize Quality Management Systems.
  • Investigate customer complaints and issue corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including supplier quality manuals, quality plans, and reports.
  • Review and approve supplier part submission; PPAP, ISIR, FAI.
  • Facilitate the resolution of quality issues involving suppliers and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support new supplier qualifications, including initial assessments and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Participate in the development and review of specifications for castings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including ISO 9001.
  • Interface with Sales, Customer Solutions, and Applications Engineering.
  • Communicate changes in production plan based on customer requirements.
  • Assist with performing quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Assist in product audits and supplier audits.
  • Assist with customer returns (TER's).

Working Environment and Conditions:

  • Office environment with regular visits to manufacturing and supplier facilities.
  • Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as needed.
  • Must have valid USA Driver's License for travel purposes.

Job Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering, with a focus on foundries, machining, paint processes and assembly.
  • Proficiency in using quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, and MSA.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar.
  • Professional certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier development and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of casting processes, material properties, associated standards, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead root cause analysis investigations and develop viable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and understanding of international quality standards
  • Knowledge of SKF Quality Management Systems.
