SUMMARY
Application Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities:
Primary:
*Maintain expert level of advanced technology (electronics, mechanical, electro-mechanical and software), and product applications.
*Articulate technology and Benchmark capabilities to both internal sales team and customers
*Leverage engineering as a lead strategy.
*Convert customer pain points into Benchmark engineering opportunities.
*Develop a process to target the right accounts.
*Lead the proposal and response strategy.
*Provide design and specification development support to customers, project managers and engineering teams.
*Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs / RFPs
*Listen, understand and convey customer requirements
*Perform technical engineering capability training for internal Benchmark sales people and account representatives
*Assist in the development of technical presentations necessary to sell engineering services to target accounts.
*Maintain accurate records of accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contracts and correspondence in company approved databases
*Travel to customer sites to perform technical presentations, information gathering, quote support and establish customer relationships

Secondary:
*Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the Benchmark mission, values and financial objectives
*Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts
*Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects
*Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth

Additional Specific Qualifications for position
*BA/BS in Engineering, Technical Field or equivalent successful experience in a similar product development or contract engineering industry role
*5+ years of experience in engineering, product development and / or test development
*Read architectural, mechanical and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical devices and products
*Solid understanding of product development, new product introduction and volume electronic device manufacturing
*Available for travel up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications for position:
*Customer Service or Sales Support experience
*Proven project management skills
*Experience in key industries such as medical, automotive, gas & oil, aerospace, military or defense

Compensation Range:$98,587.960 to $147,881.940 USD
