The Senior Principal Engineer - Operating Systems will function as a member of the Technical Leadership Council (TLC) functioning as the SWX wide expert in operating systems and will lead the creation and maintenance of the technical strategy for operating system adoption and customization for SWX projects. The key position responsibilities of The Senior Principal Engineer - Operating Systems include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and maintaining the technical strategy for operating system adoption and customization in SWX projects
  • Evaluate new features impact on operating system technical strategy and modify the strategy as necessary to accommodate feature growth
  • Develop technical documents that detail strategic OS features and interfaces for the systems team
  • Build and test prototypes to validate the technical strategy

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree field
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Deep knowledge of automotive operating systems including Linux.
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products. Highly self-motivated.
  • Experience in designing and building applications on Linux/Android/QNX
  • Programming experience for diverse operating systems and platforms using varying development tools
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent understanding of software design, coding methods, programming principles and best practices
  • Flexible and adaptable to learn and understand new technologies
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with GreenHills, QNX and other operating systems
