Huntsman is seeking for a Sr. Level Tech Service Specialist to join our Automotive business team, which is part of the Polyurethanes division based in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Job Scope

This position reports to the Technical Manager and is responsible for providing technical support to our customers and sales staff in the area of polyurethane foam and composite systems.

As the Sr. Tech Service Specialist, you will:

• Be the customer's technical advisor and contact within our company.
• Train customers how to process polyurethane systems safely and effectively.
• Blend one gallon to tote sized samples for trials.
• Develop project/trial plans including objectives, detailed actions, milestones and resource management.
• Run in-house trials on high pressure foam machines.
• Conduct and document customer projects/trials.
• Document the customer's baseline process for use in development and troubleshooting.
• Trouble shoot material and process problems at the customer.
• Adjust formulations to meet a customer's new requirements.
• Assist Account managers in developing and executing account strategies.
• Assist Development Chemists in developing new products by providing first-hand accounts of the customer's process and material requirements as well as being the voice of the customer in development planning.
• Operate and maintain assigned process and lab equipment.
• Conduct all trials and activities in accordance with Huntsman's Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
• Provide back-up assistance to other Tech. Service Engineers on our team.
• Be a vital, active member of the technical team.

Education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a complimentary discipline from an accredited university or equivalent job experience
• 5+ years of Technical Service\Formulating experience in the polyurethane industry with heavy emphasis on flexible and semiflexible molded foams.
• Working knowledge of computer programs for e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and project management.
• Mechanical aptitude, good understanding of fluid mechanics and good understanding of chemical processes.

• Desire to work with customers on a technical basis and develop good, face to face working relationships.
• Willingness to learn and teach others.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Travel:

• Willingness to travel up to 30% of your time.
