POSITIONS OPEN CONTINUOUSLY
$14.64/per hour

Current recruitment is for our Parks & Recreation Department - Pier 60 Bait house Operations.
Pier/Bait house operations: Cleans and maintains pier walkways and garbage cans. Straightens, organizes, and stocks merchandise. May perform minor maintenance repairs on rental equipment. Prepares, issues, and processes equipment rental and bait transactions.



The City of Clearwater has a need for temporary variable employees to supplement our permanent workforce. These variable employees are invaluable in meeting the mission of the agency.

The definition of a Variable Employee:
*Average weekly hours cannot be determined at date of hire.
*Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be 28 hours per week or less.
*NOTE: Will be considered full-time and eligible for medical coverage if hours average 30 hours per week or more over a 12-month measurement period (or 130 hours per month).

Variable service, sales, and maintenance work of ordinary difficulty in connection with the operation of municipal marina fuel dock OR pier/bait house facilities.

An employee in this classification is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a marine fueling facility, public docks, AND/OR a pier/bait house facility depending on area of assignment. Work requires considerable independent initiative and is performed under general supervision. Specific positions can be full or part time, working a varied schedule in either case.

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates MAY be required to do some or all of the duties listed below depending upon area of assignment:

Ensures that all appropriate safety precautions are observed at the marina, OR pier/bait house. Receives and accounts for cash, and may process checks and credit card sales. Prepares daily shift reports and records. Receives, accounts for, and inventories fuel and/or bait house inventories. Answers telephone calls and provides marine, and fishing related information. May collect transient slip rentals and issues parking permits and fishing passes. Performs minor maintenance, custodial assignments, and other marine, or pier/bait house tasks as directed. Makes safety announcements to the public due to weather or adverse conditions.



Minimum Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications:
A valid State driver's license is required.

Education and Experience:
High School graduation, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D. Certificate.
One (1) year of experience in boating, bait house operations, customer service and/or related activities. Six months of experience handling money and making change.

Supplemental Information

Knowledge of general marine practices related to fueling and mooring vessels.
Knowledge of local and surrounding beach and geographic areas and local attractions.
Knowledge of local fishing practices and related fishing regulations.
Ability to handle large sums of money.
Ability to make change quickly and accurately, prepare simple reports, and maintain records.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Ability to provide general information to boaters, pier customers, and tourists in a courteous and friendly manner.
Ability to use personal computer, word processing and spreadsheet applications, point-of-sale software and other related automated office equipment.
Good physical condition with no serious defects of vision, hearing, or limbs.
