Are you an experienced Nutritionist looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in a thriving community? Look no further! New Hanover County is actively seeking a Nutritionist to join our dynamic Public Health Department and play a vital role in serving the citizens of our County. 

Grant-funded through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) state grant, this position provides nutritional assessment and education to WIC participants where duties include conducting interviews and reviewing data, dietary information, and medical histories; developing and documenting nutritional care plans; providing nutritional counseling; referring clients to other agencies for services; participating in workshops; and reviewing professional publications to stay current on nutrition and public health issues.

Hours:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
 
Salary Information:
The hiring range for this position is $46,360 - $62,585.50. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations. Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work.  
   
Trainee Opportunities:
Applicants who meet the required minimum education but lack the required nutrition experience may be considered, and if hired, will be paid at least the trainee rate of $44,152 and will remain at a trainee rate until the minimum experience qualifications are met. 

Funding:

This is a grant funded position expected to last as long as grant funds are available and/or according to the needs of the department.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a closely related field
  • One year of related nutrition experience.
